The Celebration of Women in Sport Awards was created to celebrate, champion, and showcase the incredible women and girls involved in sport across the Scottish Borders.

Founded in 2024 as part of the Melrose Sevens Weekend, the awards quickly became a standout celebration, bringing together athletes, teams, coaches, volunteers and supporters for an evening dedicated entirely to female sporting achievement.

Since its launch, the event has seen rapid growth:

• 250 attendees in 2024

• Over 300 attendees in 2025

• 40,000+ public votes cast in 2025

• Increasing national attention and sponsorship interest

From 2026 onwards, the awards will become a standalone annual event, marking the next stage in its journey to becoming a nationally recognised celebration of women in sport.
